I’ve been a PlayStation 4 user since it launched in 2013, and I have to say that I absolutely love the console. But recently, I’ve started to question whether or not Sony did enough with the Dualshock 4 controller to make it the best gaming experience possible. After doing some research, I found out about a feature called Dualsense that is available on other controllers like PS5, PSVR but not PS4.
So does this mean that Sony overlooked an important feature for their flagship console? In this blog post, I’ll be exploring what Dualsense is, how it works, and if it is supported by PS4.
What is DualSense?
DualSense is a feature that allows players to feel different textures and materials in the game they are playing. For example, if you were holding metal object in your hand, then it would vibrate accordingly with the vibration of certain actions within the game such as gunshots.
How Does DualSense Work?
There has been some debate over how exactly Dualsense works on PSVR, but I think most people agree that this technology uses an external camera or devices like smartphones to sense objects placed against the controller. When we use our hands for real-life activities related to those games (such as moving around with a joystick), we expect similar vibrations so we don’t lose immersion while playing video games. While PlayStation VR already comes with its own set of vibrations, it doesn’t always give that sense of realism we’re looking for. That’s where Dualsense comes into play by supplementing the PlayStation VR vibrations with additional feedback.
Why isn’t Dual Sense working on my PS4 ?
Dualsense is a feature that was initially made for PlayStation VR and older controllers like PS Move. Sony did not include this technology on the Dualshock controller because of its current limitations, which would be mainly interference with tracking devices such as Playstation Camera and motion sensors. This means we won’t see any new features related to DualSense on PS4 since the controller is outdated.
In order to use Dual Sense what should I Do?
You need to upgrade to a newer version of Play Station to use Dual Sense. Right now this feature is available is Play Station 5. I’m sure that Sony will release this feature in all future versions of their controllers.
Does DualSense Work on PSVR?
Yes it does, but you need to buy the specific PlayStation VR model for using this feature. If you have an older version then I recommend buying a new set so you can take advantage of dual sense. It would be really cool if they could somehow make this technology work with Playstation VR instead off requiring another controller just to use features like these!
Although, there is a method for using Dual Sense on PS4. It is by using PS5 Controller on PS4
Use Dual Sense in PS4 using PS5 Controller: How to Connect PS5 Controller to PS4
Since Dualsense is not currently available on the PS controller, we’ll be using a PSVR to show you how it works. The process is pretty simple and only requires a micro USB cable.
Conclusion:
DualSense is a pretty cool feature that was originally meant for PlayStation VR and older controllers like PS Move. Sony did not include this technology on the Dualshock controller because of its current limitations, which would be mainly interference with tracking devices such as Playstation Camera and motion sensors. This means we won’t see any new features related to DualSense on PSVR since the controller is outdated.
- Simply download the PS4 Remote Play software to your PC
- connect your console to it, and then start streaming.
- You’ll be able to remotely control your PS4 with your new controller if the controller is correctly linked to your computer using either a wired or wireless connection.
- The experience isn’t great, especially because you don’t have a good internet connection, but it’s the only way to play PS4 games with a DualSense controller.
That’s all I have right now about how dual sense work but if you want me to try something else then let me know in the comments
