Redmi 9 Prime: Price In Nepal, Specs And Review

Redmi Note 9 Prime

The year 2020 is giving us surprises one after another. The reason why I said this is because we got to see the prime smartphones branding by Redmi after a really long time.

It is a budget smartphone and looks like the cousin of Poco M2, in terms of design and some features. But is Redmi 9 Prime a good smartphone? Read the full review to find out.

Design and Display

The front of the Redmi 9 Prime is quite similar to the design of many entry-level smartphones. It has thin bezels around the screen with a chunky chin.

There is a dewdrop notch on its forehead where the selfie camera lies. On the other hand, the rear side is set with AI quad cameras, LED flash and a fingerprint sensor which is surrounded by a ring.

The surface has textured matte finish that keeps the fingerprints and smudges away. Redmi 9 Prime has a concentric design for a better grip and it is available in color options of Space Blue, Mint Green, Matte Black and Sunrise Flare.

The Redmi 9 Prime is wide and has a dimension of 163.3 x 77 x 9.1 mm. Built with a plastic back and plastic frame, it weighs around 198 g.

The top of the phone is placed with an IR blaster that can be used as a remote of various appliances.

At the bottom, there lies 3.5mm audio jack, primary microphone, speaker, and USB Type-C port. Redmi 9 Prime has power and volume buttons on the right whereas two Nano-SIMs and one a microSD card slot, on the left.

The screen of Redmi 9 Prime is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and P2i nano coating.

While the safety glass prevents the screen from breaking and scratch, the coating makes the device immune from accidental water drops and splashes.

This smartphone features a 6.53 inch full-HD+ display that provides a great experience not only while watching videos but during a hardcore gameplay.

Because Redmi cares about its customers so they have built new Redmi 9 Prime with an eye protection feature.  It is an IPS LCD display with 400 nits of brightness and 83.2% screen-to-body ratio.

Performance and Memory

Redmi 9 Prime is packed with a powerful MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor that features two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

It is a gaming based chipset and can perform various tasks without compromising the phone’s speed. To make the device game friendly, Xiaomi has embedded HyperEngine technology in the processor which also contributes to a smooth and long lasting gaming experience.

The ARM G52 graphics card is quite impressive as it makes the device 107% faster than the previous model and can clock up to 950MHz.

Redmi 9 Prime is launched in two memory configurations. Instead of giving large RAM in higher variants and low in smaller devices, the company provided both the models with 4GB RAM.

We really appreciate how the brand is not compromising with the phone’s memory just for the sake of money.

However, the internal storage differs from one another. While the expensive Redmi 9 Prime has 128GB storage, the lower segment smartphone comes with 64GB memory.

Cameras

Using more cameras in a smartphone has become a kind of trend and we have seen various phones following this same design. In terms of Redmi 9 Prime, it features a quad camera setup on the rear.

The 13MP main camera is 28mm wide and comes with an aperture of f/2.2. With a 118.2˚ field of view, the UW camera has 8MP of resolution.

Taking macro shots and portrait pictures is more comfortable with Realme 9 Prime as it has dedicated cameras of 5MP and 2MP to perform this task.

In addition to photos, the cameras are capable of recording HD videos at 30fps.

The selfie camera of 8MP features a HDR mode and has an aperture value of f/2.0. It is about 27mm wide and can take 1080p videos.

Battery

Redmi 9 Prime undoubtedly has the best battery. The Li-Po 5020 mAh non removable battery can run 19 hours of video streaming.

Not only that, it also supports music playback of 185 hours, 19 hours of continuous navigation and music playback of 185 hours.

Conversely, we were really disappointed with its charging time. Juicing the phone completely took about three  hours but worry not because Redmi 9 Prime also supports 18W fast charge.
