Have you ever regretted reading a message on Instagram? Let’s say that, for whatever reason (you don’t want to read their messages or have them know) if somebody sent something and the tag was displayed right underneath with an “seen” label next to it.
The recipient will always see this when they open their inbox so all of your communication is revealed which can be awkward sometimes! What do people usually do in these situations – well fortunately we’ve got some solutions up our sleeves 😉
Unread messages are the ones that haven’t been opened by the recipient yet. You can see them if you go to the Messages tab on Instagram, then scroll down and choose “unread” from the options at the bottom. If you click on one of these messages it will say “seen” next to it once they have read it.

How to Unread Messages On Instagram (Business Accounts)
If you own an Instagram company account, there is a way to filter your business messages. To do this, you should follow these steps: Firstly, go into the ‘Messages’ section of the app; Next, tap on “Unread” and you’ll see a list of the messages that haven’t been opened yet; Choose “Unseen” from the bottom of your screen and only those unopened messages will be displayed.
If you’ve received a message but want to pretend like you haven’t (or vice versa) there are some tricks – here’s what you can do:
1. If somebody sent their messages and the “seen” label appeared on it, then all you have to do is press down on that message with your finger for about five seconds. This will make the “seen” disappear and it will look like you haven’t read it yet!
2. If you’re the one who sent the message and you want to unread it, then all you have to do is hold down on the message for about five seconds. The “seen” label will disappear and it will look like you haven’t opened it yet!
3. If somebody sent you a picture or video, then all you have to do is tap on the thumbnail twice in order to unsee it! We hope this helps 😀
