Acer Predator Triton 500 is a gaming laptop that has faster CPU and GPU performance with 32GB SSD RAM and 1TB storage. Triton 500 has a proper thermal cooling system that prevents it from overheating and the powerful 84Wh 4-cell Lithium Ion battery keeps it awake for 4 hours. The official price of the Acer Predator Triton 500 is Rs.3,15,000 in Nepal.
Overview
Acer Predator Triton 500 is the newest lineup in the predator series that is manufactured by Acer. In 2008, Acer started making gaming PC’s and named it ‘Acer Aspire Predator’ which was later changed to ‘Acer Predator’.
These premium gaming laptops are extremely powerful and distinctive from other gaming devices because of their processor and design.
If you’ve watched the “Predator series”(movie) then you’ll find the same kind of alien look in these devices.
This bad boy is available in seven different variants. In this blog we will be discussing the key specs and price of the Acer Predator Triton 500 in Nepal.
Design and Display
The abyssal black metal which covers the whole laptop is crafted so well that it made me feel like i was using some kind of alien device.
One thing that’ll impress you at first sight is the lean frame which makes the device easily fit even in a small bag. With 14.1 x 10 x 0.7-inch, the Acer Predator Triton 500 weighs around 4.8 pounds(slightly less than 2.2 kg).
In the middle of the lid there lies the classic LED-lit Predator logo but without the lettering which is a good change as it only made the device look dull.
A HD quality webcam is also added in the design, making the laptop even compatible for live streaming gaming videos on YT with face cam.
In terms of display, the major head turner is the 15.6 inch full-HD(1920×1080) IPS panel because it is clearer, faster and crispier than its predecessors.
Unlike the previous 144Hz models, Triton 500 is configured with 300Hz G-sync display. However, the response time of 3ms remains the same even in this device.
The NVIDIA G-Sync technology combined with RTX 2080 provides buttery smooth gameplay and now you no longer have to deal with screen tearing, display stutter and lagging.
Performance and Memory
The 15.6 inch chassis fitted with Intel’s 10th-gen octa-core i7 processor has a clock speed of 2.6GHz. The CPU can perform multiple tasks at the same time as it has 6 cores and 12 threats.
Thanks to the faster clock speed and more cores, the latest GeForce RTX SUPER GPU is 25% faster than other graphics cards in RTX 20 series.
Additionally, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Max-Q GPU could provide astonishingly beautiful visuals, sharp images and better stability because of the ray tracking technology and tensor cores.
Likewise, 32GB of DDR4 SDRAM helps to load the game more faster and reduces the choppy frame rates, hence making the gaming experience even better.
This laptop also has two memory slots but it lacks a memory card reader. Acer Predator Triton 500 provides plenty of space for storing data since you get 1TB of Samsung NVMe SSD which can be upgraded using another M.2 slot.
Acer has packed a powerful VRAM, with a storage capacity of up to 8GB, inside the 15.6 inch chassis.
Graphics memory plays a vital role in rendering the image and with 8GB of VRAM you can achieve 1440p resolution(although Triton 500 only supports 1080p) along with video editing files at 720p-1080p.
Connectivity and Ports
So as to increase the internet speed, Acer Predator Triton 500 comes with Killer’s DoubleShot Pro technology and Wi-Fi 6 module.
The former ensures that the urgent tasks are shifted to the fastest or more reliable connection and less important tasks to other networks.
Whereas the latter consumes less battery and lets you play games, watch HD videos and surf the internet even in dense public wifis. Other than that, Triton 500 also supports Bluetooth 5.
As for the ports, Acer Predator Triton 500 have plenty of them. It includes 3x USB ports, headset and mic jacks, Thunderbolt 3, 1x HDMI 2.0 port, DisplayPort, 5V USB charging and 2.5GB ethernet port. To provide better security, there’s also a Kensington lock.
Keyboard and Touchpad
There’s no huge update on the keyboard and touchpad this year, except now you can customize the RGB backlight on every key by using the PredatorSense app.
The keys have 1.7-millimeter key travel with a premium quality. Triton 500 has chosen to go with full-sized arrow keys which comes in handy for people with large fingers.
Additionally, the WASD keys, arrow keys and the shortcut key for PredatorSense software have different lighting colors so you don’t have to find them while hardcore gameplay.
The trackpad is smooth, comfortable, has great precision and defined edges which is one of the most important features especially in a gaming laptop.
While many notebooks have tiny touchpads, we’re happy to see that Acer picked to go with bigger ones.
Acer Predator Triton 500’s touchpad design is like that of a MacBook, meaning this gaming beast also lacks a mouse button at the bottom.
Audio
The bottom-front positioned speakers already have decent sound and when that is combined with Acer’s TrueHarmony software and Waves MaxxAudio, it delivers even louder and clearer sound.
Although it may not be sufficient when there’s a noise in your surroundings and ultimately you’ll need to put on earspeakers.
Speaking of which, the sound is more realististic with the headphones as this notebook also comes with DTS:X Ultra surround sound software.
Heat
With such a powerful processor and graphics card, it’s obvious that the device will heat quickly. For stopping the components from overheating, Acer uses a 4th generation AeroBlade 3D system.
There are triple fans, and five heat pipes, for proper dissipating of the heat through ventilation ports that are present on the edges and bottom of the laptop.
Each fan has 59 bionic ultra-thin blades with a serrated edge so as to increase the airflow.
The company also claims that Acer Triton 500 has 45% greater airflow than the previous models. Acer has succeeded in reducing the noise produced by the fans by adding winglets on the edge of the top and bottom of the fan.
Even though these fans are fully automatic, you can change its speed according to your preference with pre installed PredatorSense software.
Battery Life
The 84Wh 4-cell Lithium Ion battery lasts for 4 hours according to the company. But when we tested it by surfing the internet at 150 nits of brightness, the battery lasted for a little over 3 hours.
In a video run down test, where we set the screen brightness at the lowest and played a locally stored HD video, the battery survived for surprisingly 8 hours.
But I found out that the battery can manage up to only 1 hour and 20 minutes when high end games- The Witcher 3, GTA 5, Crysis 3, are played in maximum performance mode with highest brightness, wifi on and no fps limit.
Acer Predator Triton 500 Price in Nepal and availability
